Some Writing News

About a year ago, I decided to try to do more writing, and more pitching story ideas into the world for magazines.   I have spent some time connecting with other writers, both in person and on line, and have tried to be assertive about catching my rare quiet moments to write.  I find parenting give me lots of time to think and creative inspiration, but very limited time to actually write, interruption is always imminent or already happening.  But I know it can be done, other mothers have written under far more stress. Happy Birthday to my Blog – A Self-Referential Post

A year ago this week I launched this blog with this nervous sounding post.   I offer my apologies to anyone who has waited for the promised sewing posts, they were few and far between.  And also I apologize to the many who arrived at this site searching for instructions for sewing a lettuce edge, my stats say there were lots of you.  I have sewn some lettuce edging, but my method seems to break machine needles and I am sure you will have better luck looking elsewhere like here! Jewish Parenting Book Review and Giveaway

Rabbi Ilana Grinblat’s, “Blessings and Baby Steps: The Spiritual Path of Parenthood” recently published by Behrman House offers a refreshing account of one mother’s attempt to infuse Jewish values and education into her parenting. I can attest that her short chapters make reading the book possible — even when you are busy chasing your own small children. I read the book while my children were engaged in sand play — three minutes here, 15 minutes there. Also, the chapters are very topical, so readers will easily hop around to topics of interest.
